Cow Cam - Livestock Monitoring System
Have you ever wanted to check your livestock from the comfort of your home or better yet your bed?
Hundreds of families from BC to Ontario are already enjoying this leisure at a very affordable price. Purchasers of our Livestock Monitoring System (Cow Cam) are not feeling as stressed during the calving / foaling season because they do not need to go out of the house in the middle of the night, and facing old man winter, only when you have to. The camera system aids in the laboring cows not being disturbed by your regular visits to the barn, which leaves them less stressed and they calve easier. Also it enables you to see if the calf has started to feed on its own.
The Livestock Monitoring System consists of the color camera, 40 feet of outdoor rated cable or longer if required (at additional price) which connects to the scepter weather resistant transmitter box mounted on the outside of your calving / foaling barn. The wireless camera / sound signal has been successfully transmitted over 2 miles to the receiver which is located at your viewing location. (Additional receivers can be used to view the cameras from other houses on the yard) The receiver is hooked up to your TV with regular RCA cables (provided). With this receiver you are capable of watching up to four camera locations, with each camera having its own transmitter. A remote control to change the camera you are watching on your receiver is now available. The two miles distance is possible with the optional High Gain receiver antenna; objects blocking the Line of Sight of the transmitter lessen the transmitting distance.
The camera
The Livestock Monitoring System (Cow Cam) comes with a high quality 1/3” Sony CCD color camera with a lens of 3.6 mm, which offers approximately 90 degrees field of view – the best for this application. The camera has 14 Infrared Lights (great for low light conditions) and only requires about 0.5 lux to give you a great night time picture, it sees better than the human eye and offers unparalleled picture quality. The camera resolution of 420 TV lines is above the industry standard. The camera is encased in a durable weather resistant metal housing with three rubber gaskets to provide protection from the elements of high moisture or ammonia. (This camera has been submerged in 20ft of water and it did not leak) The metal mounting bracket can be manually positioned left or right and up or down.
Points to remember when shopping for a wireless video system
We were the inventors of the Wireless Livestock Monitoring System (Cow Cam) in 1996, since then we have tested and developed new leading edge technology on the Livestock Monitoring System and upgrades are continually being researched and developed. All of our upgrades are back-wards compatible, so your system should never be out dated. We pride ourselves in finding solutions to concerns within the farming / ranching community.
Make sure the transmitter and camera is waterproof, as barns have high humidity and ammonia levels.
Is the camera functional in low light conditions? Does it have Infrared Lights?
How quick is the customer service in solving your concerns or problems if one arises? Will they take the equipment back?
You get what you pay for, cheaper systems offer lower quality picture resolution, the signal travels a less distance, and video interference can ruin your viewing picture making your video system inoperable.
Will the other systems stand up to cold prairie winters, are the cables outdoor rated for the –30 degree winters and +30 degree summers?
Options & Upgrades

Frequently asked questions
Where will this system work?
This system will work almost anywhere that you have a line of sight to your house of up to 2 miles away, and in some cases the system has worked through ¾ mile of large bushes and buildings (depends on depth and distance from transmitter to your receiver)
I have a metal barn. Will this work with your Camera System?
Yes. Because the transmitter is mounted outside of the barn and is pointed towards the house, you will have no problem with the signal. I do recommend that you mount the box as high as you can on the building so you can clear any objects that may be between your transmitter and receiver at your house.
How important is lighting?
The lighting of the barn does not have to be bright, although the more consistent the lighting is the better your picture will be, the camera does have Infrared Lights on it and it works well in low light conditions. Avoid bright spots or dark corners.
Where should I mount my camera?
As high to the ceiling as you can, usually in a corner. With the camera mounted higher you will be able to have a better field of view below the camera.
